I've just started this book and I'm already shocked. I was reading along comfortably until page 33 when, suddenly, with no warning the narration switches from 3rd person narration to 1st person. Has this man no editor, no proofreader? This is a serious mistake. I've seen lots of stupid mistakes...

Good book in the mold of the rest of his books. It really picks up in the last 3rd of the book and the interaction between Alan and Peyton is interesting. That being said, I really prefer when his books are focused on the happenings of Lauren and Alan. I just don't feel the same motivation to feel sympathy for the new characters.

I've just started this book and I'm already shocked. I was reading along comfortably until page 33 when, suddenly, with no warning the narration switches from 3rd person narration to 1st person. Has this man no editor, no proofreader? This is a serious mistake. I've seen lots of stupid mistakes in books, but this beats them all.

After reading along a bit more, I see the authors does this throughout. Not working for me.

Now that I've finished it, I wonder why I bothered. I actually know why I bothered although it was torture to get through. I thought the plot was interesting and rather unusual. I wanted to find out what happened. But here's my problem. The book is not well-written and the characters left me totally cold. I didn't like the psychologist who seemed weak and annoying to me. I hated his relationship with his wife who had the potential to be an interesting character. The plot was initially interesting but didn't play out well and was everyone in the world trying to kill Kirsten, Peyton...whatever her name was? I'm giving it one star just because the premise of the plot was unique.

It is my understanding that this author has a loyal following. This book set a standard for me. The therapy was authentic, but I was most struck by the whale analogies for different kinds of memories.

This book's plot has been spellbinding. Full of suspense and a very dramatic ending. Stephen White never lets you down. Always full of suspense and unexpected twists.
