I absolutely adore this book. Its a brilliant mixture of fairy tale and reality. I'm even reading it to my children. It can be a bit scary what with the crooked man and all, but they love it none-the-less!

“FYI this book is actually being made to a movie. Irish director John Moore has recieved the rights to adapt in in film in 2007. It would be interesting to see how Moore can make the characters and the story alive. I absolutely love this book. The graphic and the descriptive contents of it completely captured me as an adult into a very mature version of the fairy tales I loved as a kid. It's clear genius!

I read it and loved it and thought of giving it to my 14 yr old grandson. Is it too gory for this age group? He loves Halo the game and reads the spin-off books.

When I started reading "The Book of Lost Things" I expected a lot. I don't usually read Fantasy /Fairy tales novels, but I wanted to give it a try. The first chapters of the novel did not live up to my expectations. They felt, to me, like a retelling of classic fairytales with an overdose of bloodshed and violence. However, as the story progressesd I was able to delve deeper into it and extract the underlying concepts. For me, the last chapters were the best. The ending was unexpected and it hit chord in me. Overall, I'd say that I enjoyed reading this book but I realized that I can't expect from Fantasy what I do from "more serious" books.

A very clever book that takes familiar fairy tales and fables and incorporates those themes and elements in this very original tale of grief and growing into maturity. "The Book of Lost Things" reminds us that fairy tales are dark in their moral tellings and very unlike the bleached and clean versions presented by Walt Disney.

I am loving this book. Grimm Brothers meet Gregory Maguire in some ways. I love how Mr Connelly takes known fairy tales and cranks them up a notch. I recommend this book to everyone.

This book is quite a surprise. Didn't know what it was going to be about, a member of my bookclub picked it without really explaining the storyline. I was hooked from the start, and loved the fantasy journey it took me on! This is one book I'll definetly reccomend to everyone. Although, we haven't met to discuss this yet with my bookclub, census is, not many of the other members are enjoying the story as much as I did :( We'll see if I can persuade them at the meeting!

This is one book I want to own. Checked it out from the library but I would definately re-read this one. Loved the stories in it that initially I thought would be so boring and repetitive like typical fairy tales but this was anything but. Surprising, and it just ended so...right.
