qsgretch: i really liked his first book, crossroad blues. i did an interview with him for a little paper i published and thought he was a heck of a guy. i was very disappointed with this one. yeah, he got memphis pretty well, but the story was down pretty low, even for this genre. i love literary fiction, but i also enjoy a good crime novel, especially like james lee burke or robert parker who can tell a good tale and give you a sense of place, maybe he'll do better in the future....
