"Battles"
Ray Adams, an American soldier in WWII, discovers after he's enlisted that he's a consciencious objector and cannot kill another human being. He tries to get transferred to a non-combatant status job, but he goes into battle in North Africa. In North Africa he comes to find out who and what he is.

"The Initiation"
Tom, a twelve-year-old boy, about to turn thirteen, is taken by his father to the men's club, where he is initiated into manhood. He must survive on his own in the wilderness to pass his test. He finds out what it takes to be a man.

"A Very Happy Man" is about a man who suffers from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and how he deals with his illness to maintain his sanity. He gets his strongest desire, but does it set him free?
