This is definitely written for a narrow audience. I've had some experience in Bible and religious studies, and I have a BA degree in science education (with an emphasis on physics, the focus of the author), and my verbal skills are such that most people won't play Scrabble with me more than once. But I can only really understand about half of what the author is saying (if you expand the definition of "vaguely understand," I might hit 75%). If science (or rationality) and religion are up your alley, this is definitely worth a read. Otherwise....not so much.
