“The worst book I've ever been forced to read. (I'm sure I've come across books that are even more godawful, but I put them down after the first couple of pages since I didn't have to slog through them for a class.) H.D. allegedly wrote "To be destroyed" across the top page of the manuscript. I'm not sure why she didn't just burn the thing herself; she was probably making a melodramatic gesture. At any rate, too bad her instructions weren't followed. (What's it about? Not much; it's just a very long--very, very long--unjustified bout of whining self-pity.)”
