Three Years In Hell by Aaron Ableman
There is no truth to the popular myth that there are dead aliens hidden away in the government's secret base known as Area 51. On the contrary, the aliens are very much alive and thriving. Nor did they look anything remotely like the "grays" or other alien forms popularized by the conspiracy buffs. The aliens that first made contact in the summer of 1947 are human in every sense of the word.
The visitors from the planet Aquarius discovered Earth when their ship developed a leak in its antimatter cooling system and they made a forced landing in the barren New Mexico desert. It was a major stroke of luck for the aliens. Aquarian ships had been searching the galaxy for 250 years looking for any of four other planets populated with human life.
They had failed to detect life on Earth because they had been searching for the signature of antimatter propulsion systems, which Earth has not yet developed. Contrary to popular belief, radio and television signals disperse quickly and are detectable only within a few light years of their origin.
When the Aquarians landed on Earth, their disappointment with our technological advancements was profound. Instead of finding the help they had hoped for, they found a questionable ally who was in worse condition than themselves. Against significant opposition from many on their own planet, the Aquarians are helping Earth to advance. They hope that Earth will become a capable ally who could stand with them against the Guardians.
In accordance with the Earth-Aquarius Slaves for Technology Exchange Agreement of 1947, Aquarius, Twice a year, delivers new technology to Earth and in exchange, Earth gives the Aquarians five females to use as slaves for a period of three years.
