“Elsewhere is a gripping book you won't want to put down! Elizabeth Marie Hall or "Liz"/"Lizzie" dies at 15 in a byclcing accident. When you die you expect to go to a place in the clouds surrounded by sunshine and meet the Maker, but this is different. Liz finds herself in Elsewhere which is basically your Life-after-death theory. In elsewhere everyone ages backwards until they are 7 days old and are sent down the river to repeat life as a new person. Some may call it "Rebirth", either way you will mostly find elderly wandering about the S.S. Nile which is the cruise ship Liz finds herself on. Unfortunately this boat only goes one way: elsewhere.
Liz meets some percular people along her journey in death some of which including her younger grandmother (about her mothers age), a rockstar Curtis Jest, a talking dog, and 2 new friends Thandi and Owen. Although all these new people are surrounding her, Liz still feels terribley homesick and can't seem to shake of her old life. She spends most of the first months at the OD's (Observations Decks) Watching her friends and family. Then she tries to make contact and gets caught trying to swim out to the Well. The Well is a forbidden place where the deceased can make contact with Earth. After getting caught she meets Owen one of the detectives in charge of keeping people away from the Well.
This is a fantastic novel of how one Girl can get through her death with her friends. A creative but yet sad view on the afterlife, as a person ages backwards they finally understand what their individual life meant and how much good was in their life.
I honestly enjoyed this book and it does deserves the full ratings! The recommendations are strong for anyone with a curiosity in an afterlife or a sort of religious sense. I love this novel and would love to have another one come out sometime soon.”
