“Sour to Sweet
LOVE IN PLAY is my first read by author Zuri Day. What I liked is the fact that Zuri's main character, Dominique Clark, is a full figure chick, an editor in chief at Capricious, a magazine devoted to REAL size women. Also a single mom, with a dead beat ex-husband and a couple of lousy ex-boyfriends, Dominique is devoted to her son and career. While giving her all to them, she rarely considers what she may be in need of.
While attending a function Dominique makes eye contact with a very sexy man. An eye contact that is long lasting. Surprising is when Dominique is cheering Justin, her son, on at his football game, and spots the sexy man she couldn't help staring at the other night. Jake 'Big Mac' McDonald, ex NFL player, is now the coach Justin can't shut up about. With such a fragile connection, Dominique plans to keep Coach on the bench. However, Jake is used to getting what he wants and Dominique is definitely what he wants.
Will these two headstrong adults be able to figure love out? Or will they continue to fumble through it?
Not a fan of romance, but Zuri was able to lure me in. I enjoyed the story, the characters and I'd like to see this couple again.
