“A slow read but very insightful. Better have a good memory because there are plenty of names and events. All in all, the US foreign policy needs work, supplying terrorists when it suited them [the US].”taipantonks wrote this review Tuesday, August 28, 2007. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “One of the best books I've read in years!! A page turner from the get-go. It starts withe Russian invasion of Afghanistan, and ends on Sept. 11. It explains, without being judgemental and partisan, why Sept. 11 happened. ”MCC91 wrote this review Monday, August 27, 2007. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“A fantastic book about the events that lead up to 9/11. A must read for anyone interested in the rise of modern day terrorism, the Taliban, Osama bin Laden and all the accompanying political intrigues and double-dealing.”kaushikmuni wrote this review Saturday, August 18, 2007. “This is an intriguing, easy reading book that does a good job of explaining the events that led up to September 11th. This story is complete and was referenced many times in the 9/11 Commission Report. This book is the 2005 Pulitzer Prize winner for General Non-Fiction. Steve Coll is my hero!
