One of the best books I've read in my life, this book completely changed the way I look at everything, helped me gain a lot of perspective, there's certainly a lot to think about here, a lot to learn from, and a lot to debate about, after this book I can see randomness in everything now, it...

There are some books who have impact on your world view and make you contemplate and rethink (with or without success), this is one of those books. Read it if unconventional thoughts stimulate you

Taleb sets out to show how randomness plays a much bigger role in our lives than it gets credit for. However, the book is fun (and educational) enough to read just for it's gimlet eye on the misleading nature of statistics too. The author articulates mathematical concepts in a very easy to understand manner and though he makes some irrelevant digressions in the text, it's still worth reading.

Great book on how randomness affects us in our daily lives. No math equations. No complex calculation of probability. It's an overview of the different ways in which we are impacted and how we perceive it.

The book keeps weaving in and out of the finance world, to which the author belongs.

I picked this up after a long time, but ruing the delay now. It's a pretty good read, packed with loads of anecdotes, theories and a lot of stuff that frankly escaped me. I understood the statistics, but not much of the philosophy. Though it must be said the author simplified the concepts to make it easy for any reader.
What I liked the most was his different take on the markets and on life in general. Randomness is something I acknowledge a lot myself but I couldn't have articulated myself in this way. Perhaps now people will take randomness a lot more seriously.
The concepts of "Survivor bias", "Noise" etc were very convincing. The MBA- bashing was also something close to heart! but doing it all, I did think a few times the author has put too much faith in what he believes to be true. Arguments ought to be forceful, especially when you are explaining something counter-intuitive. But too much contempt sets you up for hubris. Its a fine line, and I thought the author did cross the line a few times in the book.
