• Daniel Altan Wing: aka Day. Fifteen years old. The Republic's most wanted criminal. The protagonist of the story along with June. He failed his trial
• June Iparis: The Republic's military prodigy. She is tough, brave, and a trouble-maker, she is also the only person to get a perfect score of 1500 on the trial twice.
• Tess: Day's close friend and ally. They live together on the streets and work with each other for food, money, and shelter. She is a good medic and has mid-length red hair.
• Commander Jameson: June Iparis' commander. Important figure in the Republic. Very harsh.
• Metias Iparis: Twenty-seven in the book. June Iparis' older brother. Cares and loves June very much.
• Thomas: Metias and June's friend and coworker. He watches out for June. Does everything "by the book." Very put-together and follows orders.
• John Suren: Nineteen years old. Day's protective older brother. He has blond hair.
• Eden Wing: Nine years old. Day's genius younger brother. He has long blond hair.
• Kaede: A good-looking, tough bartender that Day meets. Frequents skiz fights.
