It was okay. It is a typical Nora Roberts book; a lot of details about insignificant things and not a lot of action. It is basically a very slow love story with a lot of description about remodeling and decorating an old building into a hotel. I picked the book based on the beautiful cover. I am not sure that I will continue with the trilogy.

(Spoilers) When I started reading The Next Always, I wasn't expecting any more than your typical Nora Roberts romance novel, and that's what I got. That's what I've come to learn about Roberts's novels over the years. Don't expect more than a romance novel that ends happily. And every once in a while, I like reading that kind of book.

So if you read this book expecting something really deep and moving, you were probably disappointed. Overall, I liked the characters in the book who all seemed decently fleshed out, and will be reading the rest of the books. Sam, the creepy psycho stalker, seemed a little underdeveloped, with not much of a hint as to why he felt the need to stalk Clare -- but again, that's not the type of novel Roberts was going for. If anything, Sam was just a way to add more suspense to the novel, so Beckett could come to his heroic rescue. Also, the storyline of the ghost in the inn seems interesting (hoping we get to learn more about her later) although it did spook me out a little bit. So to sum it up, The Next Always was just another average Roberts romance novel.

New trilogy by Nora Roberts. Quite a promising read. I enjoyed the characters immensly and absolutely loved the addition of Elizabeth, the ghost. While the story isn't new, Nora's way of introducing it and immersing us into the environs, the characters and even the archeological/interior decorating explanations draw us in. I also loved the exploration of old, unrequited love blossoming and evolving into something new. Looking forward to the second book.

Read as an e-book. Not sure where the title comes from but the story was good-a little predictable though. Second book isn't out yet - but will look for it when it's available.

Not a great book. Didn't get interesting until the end. Hopefully the next book will be better.

Becket and Clare's story. Mostly told from the guys POV - this was good. I liked the brother's story - i liked their unit, their world. The dynamics really worked well (LOVED Murphy - but then, how can you not???). I love Nora Roberts except for her practicality. She is the author who teaches me the most about jobs and objects, she goes into great detail when creating her little worlds. Its both comforting to know it's always going to be there and i sort of wish it would change...but then i don't think i'd like her books as much. go figure.

It reminded me a lot of the her brides quartet series, but I couldn't buy into the male characters as much.

It was interesting to find out that the book follows what was actually created in the Inn Boonsboro in real life.
