The dawn breezes stroked the water as teh Norseman helped lay his father's body next to the mast of the longship. The first rays of the sun were reclaiming the island, but he did not turn to see the treeless landscape behind him, nor at the people who lined the shingle. He did not want to see their grief-ravaged faces. He felt no grief.
