  • Courtland MacCarrick: "Court" - Highlander; A mercenary; Nearly six and a half feet tall; Has black hair and black eyes flecked with silver and a star shaped scar on his face; Thirty years old. The younger of the three MacCarrick brothers, but not the most rutheless. Hired by Pascal to train and help his group of deserters.
  • Annalía Llorente: "Anna" or "Lady Annalía" or "Annalía Elisabet Catherina Tristán Llorente" - Noble heiress; Pascal’s Castilian fiancée; Has dark curly hair and hazelgreen eyes; Twenty-one years old; Five and a half feet tall with a tiny frame. Saves MacCarrick from a river near her Andorian home. Afraid to will become like her mother and her whorish ways.
  • Ethan MacCarrick: Courtland's eldest brother; A fearsome man in both looks and deed; Has a twisted scar on his face. His fiance died the night before their wedding, believed because of the curse.
  • Hugh MacCarrick: Courtland's older brother; Has black hair and dark eyes. Has lusted/longed after Jane Wayland, a childhood friend, and has not seen her for ten years. A skilled killer, who works as an assasin for the crown, works under Mr. Wayland, Jane's father.
  • Aleixandre Llorente: "Aleix" or "Aleixandre Mateo Llorente" - Annalía's older brother; Has a tall build; Has somber, golden-colored eyes. He's very protective of her, and knows his sister well, that she will do stupid things to save the people that she loves.
  • Mariette Llorente: Aleixandre's wife; Died giving birth to Aleixandre's daughter (their first child). In a deeply loving relationship with Aleix Llorente.
  • Niall MacCarrick: Courtland's cousin. Often is a voice of reason for Court, and can read him very easily.
  • Gavin MacKriel: The oldest of Courtland's band
  • MacTiernay: The one-eyed giant
  • Liam: The youngest of Courtland's band; Nineteen years old
  • Fergus: "The Sleeping Scot"
  • MacMungan Brother # 1: One of Courtland's men
  • MacMungan Brother # 2: One of Courtland's men
  • Vitale leVieux: Annalía's steward; Has crinkly gray hair. Annalis met him in France, and they became friends. Now a father figure to her, they have an unusual relationship, believed that he taught Annalia sarcasm.
  • Elisabet Tristán Castile: Annalia'a mother; The daughter of a spanish princess. Banished for her affair as a young woman to Andorra where she married Llorente and had her two children Aleix and Annalia.
  • Nicolás Beltrán: Elisabet's one & only true love. The man that she was caught with on several occasions, and who came for her when Annalia was little.
  • Fiona MacCarrick: "Lady Fiona" - Courtland's mother; A beautiful redhead. Sad about the curse the plagues her family. Somewhat blames her sons for the death of her husband.
  • Leith MacCarrick: Courtland's father. Died when Court was 12, shortly after the boys read the curse in the book of fate.
  • Sarah MacReedy: Ethan's nineteen year old fiancée; Died mysteriously the night before the wedding
  • Jane Weyland: Girl Hugh has been in love with for years
  • Edward Weyland: Jane's father
  • Otto: Prussian
  • Olivia Pascal: Pascal’s daughter
  • Ysobel Olivia: Olivia's mother
  • Dr. Molyneux: French doctor. Looked after Annalia after she was shot. Thought by MacCarrick that he was too young to be considered a sutible doctor.
  • John Groot: Innkeeper; A gangly Englishman with ruddy skin and no visible chin; A retired sharpshooter and weapons expert
  • Mrs. Groot: John's new wife; A bonny French matron
  • Coachy: Coach driver
  • Erskine: MacCarrick family butler in London
  • Reynaldo Pascal: General; Spanish deserter; Very handsome with thick, dark hair. Supposed fater of Olivia, forces Annalia to agree to marry him, by kidnapping and holding her brother in prison
  • Ruiz the Scarred: A Rechazado. Attacked Court and Anna on the road. Anna hit him in the head with a rock, then killed by Court after sharing information.
  • Queen Isabella: Queen of Spain
  • Iambe: Annalía's horse
  • Chiron: The ranch’s primary stud
