'The museum is a house for art', according to Harald Szeemann, the independent Swiss exhibition designer, well known for such events as documenta 5 (Kassel, 1972), Junggesellenmaschinen (Bern, 1975) and Der Hang zum Gesamtkunstwerk (Zurich, 1985).
