Niall Griffiths writing is realistic and gritty. Low level crooks and perverts. His books can be disturbing and they don't really go anywhere, but they are very absorbing. I will read all I can get my hands on

Niall Griffiths horrifies with Sheepshagger, a dark-dark-dark vibe of black clouds stalling and stalling and stalling before letting out. Ianto is the story's curiosity and the reader very early on finds out that he's apparently dead after committing some pretty vile acts. The picture develops--and gets more desperate--as we read along.
Griffiths spins it with phonetic Welsh dialogue and sentences so long they eat entire pages. But neither hung me up. Because his language is so harsh and fleshy, I stayed in its groove and read at a good pace.
One of the best books I've come across all year (however it's not a new book) and a fairly original delivery of what can happen to an already unstable life when its homeland is ripped away.
