“So after the ball Cinderella lives happily ever after... right? Maybe not. In this book, Ella leaves one prison only to be thrust in to a better decorated one. How will she escape the confines of the palace and all it's rules? ”Sarah K. wrote this review Tuesday, November 29, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Cinderella and the Prince lived happily ever after - not! What happens when Cinderella discovers Prince Charming isn't all that charming? Haddix reworks the famous fairy tale in a much more realistic, if brutal, fashion. There is still a happy ending, of sorts. A fun read. Very mild profanity.”Iceangel9 wrote this review Friday, November 11, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“5th grade Fifteen-year-old
Ella finds that accepting Prince Charming’s proposal ensnares her in such a
suffocating tangle of palace rules and royal etiquette that she plots her escape.”

“It was a very good book I had a fun time reading it. It was somewhat the backwards story of Cinderella with some twists! It shows that the world isn't a fairytale and that you have to earn something in order to get it!”Rebecca Bowers wrote this review Friday, October 21, 2011. “ Just Ella by: Margaret Peterson Haddix pages : 196
If I could talk to the author I would ask why she decided to make the prince be the bad guy and for her to run away with her royal genealogy teacher Jed. I would also asked how she got the idea to remake the Cinderella story. I would say I really liked how she changed the story to make Ella in charge of your actions and her life.
If I could have changed the ending of the story I would have made it longer , because it leaves your hanging and you don’t know if she marries Jed or not. I would have made it so the story tells about their life together and their wedding.
What characters did I most enjoy Ella because her mother made her a slave but she still was strong willed. She took control of her own fate and she won a bet to get her glass shoes, and got to the ball herself. I liked how when she was locked up in the dungeon she took control of her life and dug her way out and ran away to find Jed. She studied Medical stuff so she could have a career. I just like how she is so independent.
What part of the plot I liked the most was the ball when she met the prince. The night everything just went so perfect. Everything was magical. Lots of the story was the same as the original Cinderella, like when she looses the glass slipper. I also liked how brave she was to dig outta jail and run away even though she didn’t know what was out there.
“This book is very good. It is a good story of Cinderella but not the same which makes it ever better! AHH!!!!”Sammie W. wrote this review Wednesday, March 28, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
