Theophania

Looking at the reviews on Amazon I have to say I disagree with those who felt there were no sympathetic characters. I was very drawn to Mary, at least as she appears in 1999. The teenage Mary is much more of an enigma and almost seemed inhuman at times.

Still, the plotting and the writing style kept me going on this novel. I honestly couldn't put it down and read it in two days. I was not 100% satisfied by the ending (I'm a mystery-novel fan so sometimes I get carried away with me need to have everything tidily wrapped up at the end) but it answered enough questions for me that I didn't feel "cheated."
