Another good book and movie ! When I saw the movie, it had been so long since I read the book, I had forgotten some of the details until they were played out onscreen.

"Waiting to Exhale" received all of the acclaim and is the book that changed the face of publishing to a significant degree as the industry suddenly realized that African Americans read too, and sometimes even like to read about fictional characters who remind them of themselves. But in my opinion this is Ms. McMillan's strongest novel. It's easy to become immersed in her work, forgetting that you're reading and instead envisioning yourself as a fly on the wall easedropping on lives that seem as real as those of your friends and neighbors.

Man its been a while since i read this but I remember when I did I fell in love with the way it was written. Here Mcmillan writes in two voices. One Chapter is the woman, the next is the man. Go into the mind of each as they try and navigate the ups downs and in betweens of a relationship, life, love, friendships and work. She does a great job of weaving in and out of the two voices and i didn't find myself taking sides I actually empathized with both..The movie with wesley snipes and sana lathan on HBO was good but as usual did not do the book justice a must read!

Could not put the book down once I started reading! Extreme passion emerged along with great pain.
