Historically, linguistically & anthropoloigically accuarte as well as a fun read. Nothing but good can be said about this historical novel told from a unique & unexpected approach, that of an hermaphrodite.

A shocking indulgence of Jenning's literary fascination with sexual depravity, homoeroticism and violence than his previous work, "Raptor" is still a must-read for fans of historical fiction and world travelers.
While "Aztec" focused on Mexico and "Journeyer" on Asia, Jennings now turns his attentions to gothic Europe. Readers will find many redundant themes from his past novels, and less strict attention to historical research, but who can blame the guy? After two decades on the road, I'd be a little petered out as well.
