The depth of feeling I cam to have for each character was incredible. The historical detail was wonderful, but it was the singular, fleshed-out quality of each character that kept me on the hook, especially Magda, with her innocence and her ability to see each person's aura/soul as a beautiful color. I did, though, hate the amount of death! Each character seemed to meet some horrible end. So depressing. The deaths, however, were obviously part of the novel's grander scheme and created a...
