Tristan's brother Dunstan is about to take the throne of Parangor. He is also about to establish idol worship in a traditionally Christian kingdom and force Tristan to spend his life covering for Dunstan's illiteracy, lust and and drunkenness. Many people have told Tristan to escape Dunstan's bullying and wickedness but Tristan can't act until a freak accident sends him hundreds of miles downriver into a new life. Larcondale is a tiny, impoverished town with one hope: someone to stop the indifferent baron from destroying their lives with his vineyard. Larcondale wines suck the life out of the town, robbing it of its best workers and infecting it wit the occult influences of the old baron's mysterious new bride. When Tristan discovers sexual slavery under the noses of the townspeople he fights back, with tragic consequences. He has trusted God to lead him step by step to the strength and maturity to return to his kingdom and his responsibilities, but how can that happen unless the new Baron of Larcondale rises out of the darkness and becomes the man to bring past and present together into godly maturity and victory?

Quotes edit see section history

  • ““I’ve lived here more than twenty years,” The landlord chuckled. “It’s always like that in the spring. You think it rains two months straight, but every day there’s a little peek of sunshine, or moonshine, just God letting us see His face again and letting us know He hasn’t forgotten us. I think it’s good for the grapes.” “Here you are confined to bed again,” the minister frowned. “You can’t have done all the things people are saying you did just today.”“You can clean this forge till it shines but if your heart is still black God will throw you into hell. That fire god angers the real God. Get rid of it.”“Oh, Teacher-Master,” she sobbed. “I couldn’t bear for them to knowwhat she’s doing to me. I pray every day they won’t return with the master, for she would have them punished if they tried to stop her. Don’t speak of it!” “Brentin, Thomas, what was your purpose in not telling me that I have no prospects, no hope, no way to run this vineyard, no way at all to help Mayra?””

Tristan stood at the farthest edge of the crowd at his father’s funeral, his height allowing him to easily look over the heads of most of the attendees. It was no small event, the burial of the King of Parangor.
