“my friend, ali, asked if i liked this book to which i replied, not really. when she laughed and said that she couldn't wait to read my review, i realized i can be cutting. i'll try to be gentler.

this book is deals with prejudice, infidelity, and greed, among other things. a wealthy american lady is on holiday when a disaster happens. she tries to be of help and she is criticized and even sued for her part in the situation. interject the french hating americans and a couple of adulterers, and basically that's it.
the story failed to draw me in. i didn't like any of the characters and the storyline was depressing. i'm sure it was well written, and that i would know that for sure if i had been able to pay attention to the plot.

“I did not really enjoy this book. I didn't like the way it was written and really didn't care for the story line. It was about a young woman who made her million in silicon valley and has gone to Paris to try and better herself. The only thing it seems she learned from the French was how to have an affair with a married man. I don't think I will be going after any more of this author's books.”

“I am still reading it....... it is fun and easy to read....... especially before going to bed........ no brainer........ plus you learn some of other people's ways of living........”

“This was a cute book, slightly more academic than typical chick lit. Johnson has a way of looking at cultural clashes with humor and honesty. I especially enjoyed the legal issues that arose between England and France over the will. This was a great read.”
