  • George: Main Character in the book. He did something to upset the taints(non-human statues and sculptures) and is thus thrown into another world.
  • Gunner: The first Spit(human statues) that George meets. He helps enlighten George to this new world and saves him from multiple taints.
  • Edie: A girl that appears and starts following George around. At first she is annoying and bugs George and Gunner but later on she proves useful. She is also a kind of person called a glint, thought to be extinct.
  • Walker: A "Wierded" or a person who offended the stone and is doomed to walk forever. He is the main antagonist in the story.
  • Fusilier: A statue based on a soldier from World War I
  • Simon: Add a description of this character.
  • Raven: A immortal bird whose real name is Memory. Is able to hover and defy laws of physics. Was a partner to the Walker.
  • Chapman
  • Killingbeck: The hell-bent teacher whose main intent is making George Chapmans school life hell.

  • Glint: Someone who can see the past by touching certain objects
  • Taint: A statue that was not moduled after someone. They are constantly trying to fill the emptiness within them. They are also the enemies of the Spits, and the servants of the antagonists in the story
  • Spit: A statue that was built to represent a person. They are companions to the protagonists in the story, and the enemies of the taints.
