While the officer was writing up the ticket in his patrol car, the resourceful driver called a friend on his cell phone, quickly gave him the required credit card and access code information, and had the friend renew for him online. When he was handed the ticket, the driver told the astonished officer that the car was now registered. The officer confirmed it and canceled the tow truck. The driver still got ticketed but his ingenuity and cell phone spared him from having to go to the pou”
