The boy immediately forms a bond with the dog and names him Shiloh. His stern father won't let him keep the dog because it belongs to Judd Travers, a local hunter. After Shiloh is mistreated again, he runs away and returns to Marty. Knowing his father will once again make him bring Shiloh back to Judd, he makes a home for the dog in an old shed up the hill from the Prestons' house and hides him from his family. His secret is soon discovered when a stray attacks the dog one night and he must turn to his father for help.”

Yes | No“In the small town of Friendly,West Vrignia, Marty Preston knows in town there is a man who beats his dogs, shoots deer out of season and shoots dogs. The man who kicks around his dogs (Judd Travers) has bought a new beagle and every time Judd goes hunting he runs away. Marty hides Shiloh from Judd Travers. I loved this book. By Tyler Martinus”

“I read this book as a elementary student but wanted to read it again. I love this book and plan to have it in my classroom library. It a heart warming story about a boy and a dog and their journey together from Shiloh's abusing owner. This book is perfect for children who love dogs or animals. ”
