Have you ever had a crush on someone for so long that it seems like your whole life revolves around them? Flip that. Have you ever had someone else have a crush on you and you do anything you can to stay as far away from them as possible? That's the point of view from the two main characters, Bryce and Juli, in the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. Juli has liked Bryce ever since he moved in across the street from her. Moreover, Bryce has despised her ever since their moving day. Their romance was like a newly planted seed; it was there, you just couldn't see it yet. Now that's the way it has been for six years now. However, as they get older and mature, their feelings start to change, and before you know it, everything seems to have flipped. Will their romance ever be both ways?
Flipped is a well-written book for anyone who enjoys a teen romance story. It's also unique because, unlike most books, it tells you both sides of the story by switching the main character each chapter. This is a good book for everyone to read and understand that, although you might get crushes on people that don't like you back, it's not the end of the world. You will move on, or maybe their feelings will flip. So next time you're feeling down about your crush, read Flipped, it might help you more than you would think.

Flipped is about two young kids at the age of 7, who are both, confused about love. Bryce Loski just moved across the street from Julianna Baker. The minute Julianna noticed Bryce, she flipped. She would feel weak around those rare blue eyes, and attempt anything to get that kiss from him. Bryce had a very different opinion. He just wanted that "cute little girl" to leave him alone. Years pass by and they both start to expierience many family problems. Bryce gets involved with Julianna's problems and makes things worse. For the first time, Bryce is starting to feel sorry about what he did. He really wanted to make up for the mean ways he treated her. But Julianna, also see's things differently. Once both kids get involved with eachother's life, so do both families. Private business spreads to both sides and causes major conflicts. As Bryce learns more about Julianna's family, he starts to get mixed feelings. Julianna on the other hand, gives up on Bryce and refused to deal with him. Young love has flipped. Bryce had no longer hated Julianna. He was a mad boy in love, and this time, he was the one who was going to risk everything to be with her.Only he has to convince Julianna that before he loses her. A wise man once said to him, "She isn't the one who has changed. She is the same person she was before. You are the one who has changed my son."
Personally, this is one of the most amazing books I've read so far. I really enjoyed reading this book because I can imagine relating to the book. This books talks about how a boy and a girl who switch off feelings. Seems simple right ? But, it's not that predictable.(50) It's cool how this story lets you know the points of view of both characters. Once you read Bryce's story, it'll make you want to continue and read Julianna's point of view.Anybody who loves reading about cute romance books would enjoy reading Flipped. This book is especially great for kids of all age. At one point in your life, you will have a crush. Most of us have already had that expierience when we were young.I remember a time where I had a huge crush on a boy. He didn't know I existed until finally I tried everything.Reading Flipped made me look back a year and reminisce on those days. I bet even various adults can relate this story also. Another great part I liked, was the fact that this book will leave you wanting more. Unlike other romance novels, this novel will addict you. Each chapter ends with a conflict and its very funny. So I won't be surprised if you pee in your pants. Julianna and Bryce had minds like adults. Neither person knows exactly what they're feeling. They can't explain it. That's what I love most about Flipped. It's real, and they make it easy to understand how they feel. I recommend it to the people who truly don't like to read. I personally, dont like to read books of anykind. But once I began to read this, I flipped. Nobody should just a book by it's cover. At first, the minute I saw this book, I had second thoughts.Flipped turned out to be flippin' amazing.

In second grade, Bryce Loski moved across the street from Juli Baker's House. She stared into his blue eyes and realized she has met her true love. She always says, "My Bryce. Still walking around with my first kiss." He has been annoyed by her ever since.
Throughout elementary school, Bryce avoided Juli. Well, he tried. As soon as they got out of 5th grade, Bryce was so happy to be away from Juli because they were in completely different classes. He is happy not to see her in class, but the real problem is that she lives right across the street.
Juli baker had always loved the Sycamore tree next to the bus stop. She hadn't noticed it until Bryce's kite got stuck up in its branches. She climbed up and ever since, she has loved climbing. Now, she was in love with two things: The tree and Bryce.
Juli Baker hatched chicks for her science project. They laid eggs after a year. She would sell them to her neighbors and would give them to Bryce for free. Then he found out about Salmonella Poisoning. As soon as Juli would bring over the eggs, he would throw them away and not tell her. This went on for a couple of years and Juli never found out. But one day, he got the eggs and the trash can was overflowing. He dragged the Trash out with the eggs on top. He opened the door and he saw Juli standing at his door still. He lied to her and told her they were cracked. She looked inside the carton and saw that they were perfect. Then he told her about Salmonella Poisoning affecting her eggs because of her lawn. She was so upset she ran home crying. She has been mad at him since.
He has tried to apologize to her but they never made up. Now they are in eighth grade and their views of the world-and each other-Flipped! Now he can't keep his eyes off of her. Juli thinks she is "Through" with Bryce. It all started when Bryce and his friend, Garret were talking in the library about her Uncle David. He was making fun of him. She was so mad that she almost punched him.
Then, it was the day of the basket boy auction. They bid on the meal (and the boy) for a charity benefit. But for the girls, it just meant boys were for sale. Two girls bid and they both got him. Juli bid on a boy to get over Bryce. Will they survive Junior High? Will they ever have a relationship? Read the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen to find out
