His friend has kept the dog since his family is too poor. As he took strider for a walk every morning, he builds a great relationship between the owner and dog. During the story he made a new friend, since the start of school, he has this enemy that started chasing him around, but in the end, they became great friends. He also has his best friend, a boy, who took Strider to live with him, and every day, the boy would come to his friends house to take the dog for walks. As a result of that, they were in a miss understanding fight, but they make up and Strider lives with the boy. If you love reading realistic fictions book, about animals, your just like meeee!!! so yah anyways, i recommend you this book! STRIDER! :D ”

Even though I am not much of a realistic fiction lover, I loved this book! It is about a fourteen year old boy who moved away because of his parent's divorce and has lived there for two years. One day, he and his friend, Barry were walking on the beach and they saw a dog. He wouldn't budge, but when Barry called it Strider it moved. The story is all about how Leigh starts to fit in and his relationship between him and Strider. I would recommend to anyone who loves realistic fiction books and like books that are slightly short and easy. You may want to watch out if you don't like the character telling the story from his expeirence or diary.”

Leigh Botts is back in a less-depressed voice as he takes a walk outside of himself and into the world, where he gets a dog and some new friends as well as further understanding of the world around him. Cleary's talent for children's writing has produced another gem.”

The dog and him go running every morning, which leads Leigh to run and win a big race. To fully understand the book, I think it would be nessesary to read Dear, Mr. Henshaw first.”
