LOVED IT! A uniquely told story of the myth of Noah's Ark from the perspective of a crow. For the more literary reader it reads like an extended poem. Fascinating tidbits about crows as a bonus!

SUMMARY: The biblical story of the Flood is narrated and reflected upon by a crow who watches events unfold as he soars overhead. COMMENTS: well-written and imaginative

I find crows interesting and Maheu is a local (Seattle) author, so I wanted to like this book. For the crow part, after an initial chapter that is somewhat impenetrable, Maheu does fairly well. Most of the book is written from the crow's point of view and until the flood this is done fairly well. As for the interaction with Noah it is vague and grating and eventually ends up with the crow narrator talking and thinking like a man. If you're a crow fan you might enjoy this book just by skipping the whole ark bit and reading only the crow parts. Otherwise, I'd just give it a miss unless you're a variant Genesis fan.
