“Provocative and interesting - a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the study of human evil and psychology.”

It explores how easy it is to turn normal people into people who do very bad things. Philip Zimbardo was the man in charge of the famous Stanford Prison Experiment, which quickly turned regular college guys into prisoners and guards. This experiment is explored in detail, as are the atrocities that happened at Abu Ghraib. There is a little too much where he writes about how influencial he is in this field and he definitely writes too much about what a hero he believes his wife to be. She is not in the same league as the other heroes he talks about and it is clear he is quite biased towards her. Otherwise, it is well-written for non-fiction and the subject matter certainly keeps you engrossed. I think this is a book everyone should read, if only to better be able to recognize what happens when people start heading down a path towards evil, so that we can all work against those forces in our own lives.”

This book changed my understanding of how "peer pressure" and social setting can influence people. I highly recommend this book.”
