“OK even though two books are bound in the same object for some reason, these are actually two distinct books, 1-3 and 4-6 (Battlecry/Doomsday). Anyway I read these a loooong time ago, but I remember long nights spent spellbound by these books and their rich story telling. Having watched the series a bit when I was younger, everything was immediately familiar, almost natural. Surprisingly enough (lots of kudos should go to McKinney), the translation to novel form actually gives the story much more room to grow.
Even with the Robotech roots, these are easily one of the best sci fi books I've read. Everything is strikingly detailed (even if the battles can get confusing, those, I'm afraid, do not translate very well. Actually, I've always found it hard to grasp what is going on when full 3d battles are going on in books), and the characters are well developed (although they all look like anime characters in my mind). If you like sci Fi, I definitely recommend these. If you also happen to be mildly interested in the Robotech universe, then I wholeheartedly recommend them. You cannot go wrong. Plus, they're not even that hefty. ”
