It was good, I really liked the Beauty and the Beast story-line of it. It did get a little boring sometimes, but I still liked it.

This book reminds me so much of "The Mummy."

Another lovely book by Shannon Drake, with her romantic spin on the Victorian era.

i liked this story, and the little additions about culture in the time period and history of egypt. that the lead lady was so intelligent and strong was such a nice change of pace from some of the other historical romances that have come out lately

pretty good Victorian era Romance. Enjoyed the Egyptology slant and the mystery. Love scenes were a bit too "purple prose" and the relationship was a bit too "we argue then make out" for my tastes but it was still enjoyable. Wished their was more relationship evolving between the H/H. 3.75 stars

Suprisingly good book! I had my doubts in the beginning, but the Eqyptian antiquities mystery and romance totally took me over. The book type is similar to Lauren Willig's (historical romance with a twist), but was not as well written. Still, I can't wait to read more in the series.

A Beauty and the beast sort of story, this has to do with Egyptian relics, murder, cobras, and all sorts of intrigue. The hero, Brian, Earl of Carlysle Castle, has been injured and so wears a mask to hide his facial scars but his emotional ones from the deaths of his parents during an Egyptian architectural dig lead him to scout out their murderers throughout the book. Camille must go to his castle to rescue her guardian, who "fell" over the tall wall surrounding it and was thus hurt and captured. Her stay in the castle results in learning that the earl is not the terrible beast everyone thinks, but she becomes embroiled in the search for his parents' murderers - and in her love for him.

I liked the story but found there were too many twists and turns, accomplices, suspects, guesses - and I became confused. I finished the book - all loose threads were tied up nicely - but because I'd been confused I rated it lower than I would had I not been. Again, if Shelfari had 1/2 stars, it would be a 3.5, but because they don't it's a 3-star read. Ordinarily, I love Heather Graham's work and this is she under her pseudonym, Shannon Drake.
