It was obvious that they were moving toward a serious relationship, and as much as she hoped it wouldn't happen, it was cruel to wait so long. I am baffled by Daphne's inability to see the culprit between Ruby and Gisselle. She has known her daughter her whole life and should recognize shenanigans when she sees them. I hated how Beau pushed Ruby so hard, then left her with the blame. Normally I would say this is how most males are at that age, but he seemed to genuinely care for her in the beginning of their relationship.
The Good: This is one of my favorite of the VC Andrews series I have read so far, because of the unique locale and characters. I enjoyed learning more about Cajun life and supersition/religion. It was good to see Gisselle soften toward the end, though it took a tragedy to make it happen. I also like Uncle Jean, and I know there is more to the story than what was in this book, though Pierre's confession surprised me. I can't wait to read more about that. I like that Pierre took charge in the end when it looked like Daphne was going to run the show.”

By this point, the stories were starting to become rather predictable but I did enjoy this series. Ruby is a young woman living in the bayous in Louisiana. She discovers she has an identical twin sister and moves to be with her. Everything is not what it seems and the family secrets must come out for Ruby to find her true identity.”
