This is sort off my normal "book beaten path" so it took a little bit to get into. Once into it though I got caught up in American life in the Midwest in the twenties. Garlock is a gifted writer keeping the pace up, the characters lovable, and the plot twists coming. ”

“A good, fast read! Country family whose names all began with “J”, oldest daughter was raped and had daughter that her mother pretended was hers. Found romance later and the rapist later when he went for her younger sister. Contained banter among the kids. Father fell for a flirt who was actually still married and who his kids couldn’t stand.
