I loved this book although I admit it caused me to cry at times. Houston used an interesting technique of writing chapters from different characters points of view, including two dogs and a cat. It was a book about the lessons in life and love taught the main character by her devoted Irish Wolfhound, Dante, who is battling cancer while the author is battling an inclination to avoid love because it hurts too much. Dante teaches her otherwise. If you have ever loved a dog it is a must read.
