The author succeeded in weaving an unprecedented novel of real events and real characters and historical facts , and gave it a great philosophical dimension. He embodies the greatness of the human mind that God created in our bodies.
I highly recommend it.”
“Typical romance with a terrorist twist.”

The movie was, i think, not shot over the book, but i should be someday!”

“A brilliant, evocative book. Bartol did his research for 10 years, then wrote his re-imagination of Hasan ibn Sabbah's life's work in a few feverish, perhaps hallucinogenic months. "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" is the secret motto of his Ismaili society, which uses fanatic followers fueled by hashshish and the convinction that they have experienced paradise to topple the Seljuk regime in Baghdad. Ambivalent, absorbing, haunting.”

Religion with all its beauty can very often be translated into the "opium of the masses" and here is another example. Fascinating read”
