“As a person who doesn't enjoy the Fantasy genre (or the Young Adult one), I would probably never have picked up this book on my own. As it happened, though, I was cooped up in an apartment in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country and a woman lent me all of the English-language books she owned. This was one of them.

It is accurate in the telling of the civil war and the blood shed that the horse would have seen. The connection between Lee and his horse is very endearing.”
