“The movie with Kate Winslet is my favorite movie. It is very well done. Both male and female characters are very realistic. Austin does a great job of portraying the different personality types we all see around us everyday. Very enjoyable.”
“Has anybody watched the movie with kate winslet? or the bbc series. i hated the bbc series. thought it was like jane austen dumbed down. which do guys prefer?”
“I didn't really like it i read about 1 or 2 chapters and it seemed complicated and non-engaging like Pride and Prejudice that i enjoyed very much.”
“The end of this book will surmise everything........go on reading and you will surely like this book at the end of it........”
“I am currently reading this book, i have an opinion that it has some lack of emotions and romance...it mostly describes people and their characters, their ways of behaviour in public and alone. Elinor mostly sympathizes me, for i behave in a similar way often, and i do the same things as her very often. I think she shouldn't mess with such men as Edward Ferrars or Colonel Brandon, they are so lifeless....I hope she will find a good "beau" for herself until the end of the book :)And as for Marianne, I think Jane Austen describes her often with irony, but she is only 16 years old, it's normal that she expresses all her feelings in public, and I am sure when she grows up, she will become more calm and will learn to control herself. People in 16 must be romantic and emotional, because later they will have little chance to be those...”
“I agree that this is a very slow reading book. but once i finished it i liked it. it reminded me a lot of pride and prejudice. a lot of the characters were similar. but the ending was different and i liked it. i didn't think it was very predictable. ”
“such book is really fantasticall romance in its purest meanings is iti wish only to go back to this fabulous age and just be there.i feel captured by the past in every aspect.”
“It's a good book so far but I agree with the never-ending comment. I began it at the beginning of the year and just left it for so long. I plan to actually finish it now because I did like it before I got bored. I barely got to know the main character, all I know is the mother is over-bearing, the main character and father share a nice relationship... everyone wants to marry the new guy in town, and his friend is a mysterious and dark individual. It sounds very interesting, no? I'll have to finish it one day. ”
“In a recent survey, 53% of the members of a large and well-thought-of Jane Austen Association admitted that they'd never actually finished one of Jane's novels; they only knew them through the films. Interesting that ... Now that Real Reads has done such an excellent job of retelling Austen in book form that could all change. This clever book tells the story of Marianne and Elinor through the eyes of their younger sister Margaret, and while it isn't Austen it has a definite flavour of Austen -- certainly enough to provide a useful bridge to the originals for the 53%. The illustrations by Ann Kronheimer are lovely!”
