A very HOT book with a decent storyline. It's my first Elizabeth Amber book and I'm ready to read the next in the Satyr series.

Already a paranormal romance addict, I decided to try a little erotica. This one, however, was not for me.

Too much. Way over the top. Beastiality, rape, incest, lesbianism, orgies. It was sex overkill to the nth degree.

I did enjoy the idea of the story and I enjoyed Jane and Nicholas's relationship as it blossomed and they "discovered" each other. Those parts were actually hot. But very near the end the author got lazy. Plots that had been developed and nearing climax were resoloved in a mere small paragraph. **SPOILER** When Jane is kidnapped by her Aunt and her cronies and raped and molested by them, when it comes time for Nicholas to find and rescue her, the author gave us 7 sentences and no details. Stupid.

By far one of the strangest books I have ever read. This was absolutely a paranormal erotica. I need a little plot with my sex and I prefer the sex scenes to not be vulgar. I would cringe while reading some of this. The men transform at the moon change into satyrs complete with an additional penis and tongue-like appendage under their genitalia. I'm a prude but if you can handle forced sex, orgies, incest, lesbianism and additional anatomy this could be the series for you!

Highly erotic and not for the faint of heart! This is definitely paranormal erotica with the accent being on erotic.
I found the storyline slightly hard to follow, but I did read this out of order in the series. If I had read the other 2 books (Lyon and Raine) beforehand, I probably would have enjoyed it more. I can't say that I didn't enjoy the book, but the only lasting impression it left me with was "This is just another book about people meeting their "soul mate" just for sex." I prefer an interesting storyline with sex as a secondary.

    Nicholas by Elizabeth Amber
    Erotic Paranormal- August 1st, 2007
    5 stars

In Nicholas, Elizabeth Amber begins the fabulously sensual Lord of the Satyrs series. This is a paranormal series of wickedly attractive men who are experts in the sensual arts. No one woman has ever been enough for their sexual prowess. However, the Satyr brothers are among the last of their kind. When they are commanded by the Faerie King to marry and protect his half-breed offspring all the brothers are reluctant but will to do their duty.

As the eldest, Nicholas feels he must be the first. Nicholas plans to marry and then impregnate the Faerie King’s daughter. Once he has done his duty he does not feel any need to change his life.

Jane is a gently bred lady and an outcast in her own family. She is unaware of her Faerie heritage and knows something is ‘abnormal’ about her. She desperately she tries to hide her ‘magical’ abilities. When Nicholas comes to propose marriage after meeting her only once she is reluctant but due to family pressure and her lack of wealth and prospects she accepts. Jane marries Nicholas but finds strange and sensual things going on at his vineyard. Jane knows this is an arranged marriage but she is perturbed when Nicholas leaves her at night and feels something is missing when he beds her. When she discovers Nicholas has 2 mistresses she is: outraged, humiliated and jealous. Jane boldly proposes that she be his mistress instead!

Nicholas finds himself strangely attracted to his wife although he knows this is a marriage of convenience. When Jane proposed to be his mistress, he accepts her offer.

I enjoyed Nicholas slow warming to Jane, Nicholas especially in the beginning seems rather distant with Jane. He feels he must do his duty and doesn’t intend to change his life. He believes there are 2 types of woman, those you bed and those you marry. But Jane changes his beliefs and soon he can’t get enough. My only wish is that they had started heating up the pages a little earlier!

Elizabeth Amber’s atmosphere of Old World decadence makes you feel transported into a world of luxury and lush enchantment. The glimpses of the Satyr world and equally virile Satyr brothers kept me hot under the collar. Her scene with the blind fold is the most sensual scene I have ever read and well worth the price of the book! I initially bought this book for the cover and the paranormal theme but kept it and will continue to read the rest of her series because I can’t stay away from the extraordinary writing!

This is a great "HOT" read but its story was really really good too. Its historical yet erotic and paranormal with romance. A real surprise because I went in thinking that his was just a hot and heavy book. However its more. I can't wait to read the next book Raine. A great start to the series.
