I am just wondering why Gregori did not see in colors or get his feelings back, when Savannah was 18 (page 36 & 37) and he was standing right in front of her and gave her 5 more years. Why did it happen at the arena 5 years later?? Did I miss something? I am reading the book for the 3rd time and I still don't know the answer..lol

I was under the impression that the person in question had to be sexually mature. Some people just aren't ready for that at 18 years old. Also because of the Carpathians longevity an 18 year old, considered an adult by humans, is really still a baby.posted 5 years ago.

Thank you for responding:-) I know each Carpathian is different as to how they relate to their lifemate for the first time. But, I sitll wish it had been made clear [g] In Dark Celebration, I can't remember the male's name but the female was Skuyler [sp?] and she was only around 16 and yet the male saw in colors etc the moment he saw her. I guess I just have an enquiring mind...lol

if we go w/ the sexually mature theory that nolansowl mentioned below, and which I think is probably right, then the reason why feehan considered skylar as sexually mature at 16, where savannah wasnt yet at 18, it's probably because skylar was molested or raped before she was taken in by Gabriel and his lifemate...granted rape isnt sex but it would accelerate her maturity...savannah was still a complete innocent at 18...

I'm not sure if this might be why but Gregori knows before Savannah was even born that she was his lifemate. I think he saw her in the womb? I guess it's a good question to ask Christine Feehan.

he did see her in the womb...or so I understand. When he heals Raven, he talked to the child. *sigh* I think that is right? I might have to check back in the second book. I am pretty sure Gregori knew and maninpulated the whole lifemate thing. Plus Mikhail was aware that Gregori knew Savannah would be his lifemate before Savannah was born. It was almost like Savannah was born to save Gregori.

Because the Carpathian species is endanagered and there are so few females, the Carpathian males can begin to pursue the female when she 18 years of age. In this instance Savannah wasn't ready to settle down at 18, so she asked Gregori for an additional 5 years. He gave them to her, but it nearly cost him his soul. ***SPOILER ALERT***And, yes, he knew that Savannah was his lifemate because she was nearly lost before her birth when her morther Raven was viciously attacked by vampire hunters (See DARK DESIRE). Gregori managed to save the unborn child, Savannah, while Dr Shea worked on Raven.
