Williams' most poignant play. Whether this thinly veiled memoir was written as an act of confession or penance or something altogether else, it's riveting in its nakedness, and its breathtaking bleakness at the final curtain is haunting and heartbreaking. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have seen...

I cannot believe high schools are still subjecting young minds to this work. The lead character is a hot mess of pleurosis and neurosis, the entire family shrill and self absorbed. Horrible in print, I can scarcely imagine the torture of having to sit through a performance.

I liked the story. Tom was a jerk, but it kind needed to be done because its about whats best for him. thats selfish, but he was young and full of promise.

A beautifully written play, The Glass Menagerie tells the story of Tom Wingfield and his mother, Amanda, and sister, Laura. Laura struggles with feelings of inferiority, and Tom struggles against his dominating mother.

Because this is actually a play there are certain scene elements that would be better portrayed on stage, obviously. However, because it states clearly what's going on it's easy to understand some of the symbolism and how Williams wanted a particular event to be taken. I thought the book was okay, overall. The parody of it was really funny so I recommend reading it just to read the parody. Goooooood stuff!

This book i'm sure would be inspiring to somebody with low self esteem, and no self confidence. I'm not lacking in either of these catagories, but i did enjoy the book! It's a good read. However I didn't fully grasp the ending of it, which really frustrated me. It wasn't until after discussing it in english class i understood the meaning behind it.

Another one of my favorite plays ... How can you not feel for Laura.
