“Some of you are saying the world might come to this someday ... we are already there. We can now buy condensed versions of condensed versions of the classics or even the best sellers. We are too busy cramming information in people's heads instead of teaching them how to think and how to evaluate and justify an opinion. If you want to see where all of our politically correct culture is headed, couple this read with the short story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut. Beaty told Montag that in order to make people happy, those in charge had to keep people from reading. In "Bergeron," those who could think were not allowed to - no room for differences or advantages ... everyone must be equal. Equal opportunity does NOT guarantee equal outcomes, nor does it guarantee happiness. Anyone who believes that it does has a seat reserved on Mildred's couch with the "family" and the White Clown. Bring on the wall-sized wide screens, baby!”
“I mean its an OK book...”
“I wonder how well 451 burns...”
“The whole world would disengage...mass chaos...destruction it would be horrible”
“I would”
“I just finnished reading and it's a great book. I wouldn't be surprised if it came true in the next fifty years.”
“hot stuff”
“great read for a high school lit class ”
“This book is a good book to read because i thik it could reflect on what this world could come to. Based on what i know there is also a movie called Equilibrium. It was produced in 2002, I think it connects to the book in many ways. People are not allowed to feel, have emotion, and cannot act out. In the movie it's a step up from what I've read. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone.”
