Its good, some stories are very nicely written; others are just leaving you perplexed, confused! My favorites would be "Harry" and "Compagnion of games" (or something like that!!!) It's an allright book

I felt like any book that had Roald Dahl's stamp of approval on it would surely be original, imaginative, witty and exciting. Boy, was I ever wrong. There were a couple of stories that I liked, but overall I found myself bored to tears and willing myself to finish this book. I can tell you that I...

Chilling to the bone! If you are reading these alone in the middle of the night make sure you keep your talisman and protective charms around you! The introduction is, as usual, superbly written by Roald Dahl himself. The ease with which he engages his readers just blows me away. It is the perfect way of writing, such that it appears as a conversation, and not a lecture.

The book is a collection of 18th and 20th century English country ghost stories. Things that go bump in the night will go boom after you've read this book. Some of the best works are by female writers which is as surprising for me as was for Dahl. The book was initially compiled to put together a number of stories that would eventually become screenplays and part of a series of short stints on tv. That never happened but I sure am glad the book did!

This book is kind of scary and frightening. But it is still a really good book of ghost stories! I recommend this book to people that likes to read scary and ghost stories!

While I love Roald Dahl, this collection is not too impressive. It contains some acceptable stories, if you are into that ghost genre, but - to me - all of them lack the eeriness of even average Poe writings.

I can tell you that I cannot wait to drop it off at the library and be done with it permanently.

Considering I am a big chicken when it comes to ghost stories, I have found this little book of short stories very entertaining.

I read this when I was young and heard about Dahl on a radio talk show. Some of the stories were quite haunting. Others were not, hence the 3 stars.
