I HAVE FINISHED THIS BOOK: This is the story of a Fifteen-year-old Virginia Shreves has a larger-than-average body and a plus-size inferiority. She lives on the Web, and follows the "Fat Girl Code of Conduct." Her spiritual sister and her best friend has just moved to Walla Walla. Her new pal, Froggy Welsh the Fourth has just succeeded at getting his hands up her shirt. Then there are the other Mom, a psychologist and exercise fiend; Dad, a top executive who preys on thin women on TV; and older siblings Anaïs and rugby brother Byron, both of them slim and brilliant. Delete Virginia, and the Shreves would be a picture-perfect family
The reason I found this book so interesting was because of its unique subject. The subject of this story was feeling good about yourself and after Virginia went through all she could and all she had, she finally gained confidence. I love inspirational books and this is one of them. I do think it lacked some good qualities like a good ending thats why I didn't rate this book a full 5 stars.

Plump Virginia has most of her teenage years feeling like an embarrassment to her family of slim overachievers, but then a crisis makes her begin to see that her perfect parents and siblings have some serious flaws as well. She starts to rebel, assert personality around fellow students, dye hair, organize a school zine, appreciate Ani DiFranco, come into her own sense of identity. Written in a basic, down-to-earth, style.

This story is about a family in crisis and the teenaged daughter's attempt to find a way to cope. Virginia is named after Virginia Wolff and her brother is named after Lord Byron. After Byron is expelled from Columbia College in New York for date rape, the family is in denial about it. Dad takes Byron to every sporting even in New York and mom, who is an adolescent psychologist, keeps saying everything will be fine. Virginia, on the other hand keeps eating and eating. When her parents keep ignoring her except to say she's too fat, Virginia finally rebels. I would highly recommend this to YA girls!

This book was not only funny, and it compacts everything teenage girls go through. Of course there has to be a happy ending to.

This is a book that is sort of nasty but i like it because I have some things in common with Virginia and her best friend.I think that this book will be good for the girls that read this because if you read this book you will atleast have something in common with one of the charactors. This book is about a gril named Virginia and one of her best friends went away and so Virginia would send her friend E-mails saying that people were making fun of her or what she would do....

This book is kinda funny. I don't want boys to read this book at all. I think its just for girls. It's about this girl, Virginia having problem with her body like how much she weighs. But she learns sort of a life lesson through.

Virginia's transformantion from an insecure loner to confidant heroine makes for a great read.

this book holds a special place in my heart, it was the first book i remember reading and thought 'i HAVE to read it again'. it's the only non fantasy teen girl books i really liked this much. instead of a group of catty bitchy girls who are mean to eachother this book is about a girl wrestling with her issues with her weight, being the fat girl in a skinny beautiful family. not only do you feel for virginia, but she's smart, sarcastic and funny. this is definately a book i will pass on if i ever have a daughter.
