The first time through, I felt this mystery was one of Christie's most unfair, as it rests on a visual clue. Because I felt that way, I remembered the solution the second time through perfectly, and then I was able to see that Christie gave every possible hint, and the failing was mine -- I simply do not try to picture things as I read, so I missed all of the ways Christie gave the mystery away. After discovering that, i was very impressed by this mystery. It was extremely clever, had some fun characters, and (always a plus for me) no Hastings whatsoever. Definitely a good holiday read for fans of Poirot!

I haven't read many AC novels, but this is 2nd only to And Then There Were None (ATTWN). I kept trying to guess who the murderer might be and I was in for a surprise! ATTWN is still the best for me, but Hercule Poirot's Christmas is defiinitely worth a read. Finished it in 2 days.

A heart-warming tale of Christmas cheer it is not. Read it during the hols -- it's the perfect antidote to an overdose of sugar.

A non-anaemic case with the most unsuspecting culprit!

I liked the murder in Christmas theme, and I read it on a December. First, the characters were described one by one and then the long-lost grand daughter takes center stage with the patriarch. It's amazing how all her descriptions give the smallest clues, yet these are the ones that help solve mystery - all under the scrutiny of Hercule Poirot, whom I prefer to Miss Jane Marple. He effectively solves all these murder mysteries with his eye for detail and superior logic.

I love Agatha Christie and I think this is the best book of her Hercule Poirot series. There was so much of cold-blooded murder in it and the person who I least expected to be the murderer was the murder.
