  • Miss Marple: A witty old woman, Miss Marple reads between the lines and solves murders based on years of observation on "human nature".
  • Mrs. Bantry: A nosy friend of Miss Marple who sold the house to Marina Gregg, and a main supplier of information for Miss Marple on events around Gregg's house.
  • Marina Gregg: A movie star who has had a troubled life. Now on her 5th marrige, she hopes for a quiet country life. However, a murder quickly disrupts that idea.
  • Dermot Craddock: Chief inspector on the case.
  • Jason Rudd: Marina's newest husband, much younger than her, a movie producer. He seems to be the "loving husband". He, in the end, has more sense than you might think.
  • Heather Badcock: A bubbly person. As Miss Marple puts it, she might lack some common sense.
