I had a Diana binge last year and read nearly every book pertaining to her. This one was the most comprehensive - if you really want to know about Diana's whole life, this is the book to read.

As for Diana herself, she reminds me a little of the behaviour of social climber Becky Sharp in Vanity Fair when she throws the dictionary at her tutor upon leaving school, and in her younger years, an eccentric aristocratic English girl out of a Mitford saga. If Shakespeare was alive today he would have written her tragedy. Such a flawed, yet noble character.

Tina Brown has incidentally, written for Vanity Fair, and she is the perfect author for her subject.

I found this book to be extremely well-researched and written. The author presented some facts from unusual sources that I had not known before, and I am a well versed "student" of Princess Diana. Tina Brown could have been an analyst was she not an author. Her dissecting of the facts and the conclusions she forms are spot on. This book takes a while to get through, simply because of its length. It was quite an undertaking on the author's part, and I believe she deserves credit for presenting an in-depth look at Diana's personality and life in general. A highly recommended read.
