“Surely not the best Agatha Christie. I had trouble getting interested in the plot--too many discussions that got nowhere. In this one, Miss Marple has no idea what murder took place, and how she is to find justice to an unknown person. Plot sounds promising, but Christie doesn't meet up in her usual mastery. Boring.”

“A disappointment from the first few chapters- while the idea of Miss Marple being sent to solve a crime without being told what it is interested me, the crime itself was pointless. A good idea, but on paper not what it could have been.”

“Later Christie and perhaps not quite up to her usual standard, but still it *is* Miss Marple who manages to triumph in her delving - and, gets out of bed at the end to prove it.”

“With the exception of the very disturbing views on rape that were expressed by more than one character in this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept me guessing almost to the end and I love Jane Marple even more than I did after seeing a view episodes on PBS of Mystery!”
