It's hard to distinguish my memory of the writing from the great BBC presentation of all of Christie's works. Sometimes the writing seems to bog a tiny bit, but the wit and mystery always comes through. Perhaps my imatience is due to watching them first.

Three novellas and a short story featuring Hercule Poirot. The first and longest, "Dead Man's Mirror," is tricky if the reader looks for motive first, but perfectly fair if the reader looks primarily at means and opportunity. The second, "The Incredible Theft," is fairly simple, but does let us meet the redoubtable Mrs. Macatta that has been mentioned in several other novels. The third, the titular "Murder in the Mews," is my favorite of the lot, beautifully channeling "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime." The last, the short story "Triangle at Rhodes," seemed too abrupt when matched against the three novellas -- there were too few clues for me to have a chance to untangle it before it was over. All in all, this collection is nice, but not terribly memorable.

A volume of four 'long' short stories. In general, Christie's 'long' short stories, which provide more scope for her style to unfold, are better than her shorter ones. Of course, the psychology of character, which is her forte, occupies a lesser place in her short stories, which rely more on the 'surprise' element, than in her novels. All the four stories are readable, though somewhat lacking in depth
